damn, ok thanks for the heads up, ill have to watch out for that. What are the rules for pitbull attacks exactly? It seems like sometimes i can move right next to them and they wont attack, and other times they get me. what gives?
So I literally spent 5 hours building my base, after i was lucky enough to get a big bounty from my starter home. Dont know why, but I felt like trying to scout out some homes. Ive been avoiding dejesus's house all day, because he has 2 pitbulls right at the front door. against better judgement, I took one step in a died instantly. This has to be a glitch, how can he get into his own safe if one step in kills you?
I understand that this is not an easy problem to fix, but it seems like someone is coming in every hour on the hour and robbing their own dummy account. I would not really have a problem with this, but whenever they feel like it they can drop tools/money to their dummy account and rob houses worry free. This completely destroys all rogue-like elements of the game.
Considering how much work and tinkering you have to do to figure this game out, I would say that plenty of people are going to figure this out when the game goes live on steam, and there will be no shortage of people willing to do this.
One simple fix for boosting could be to show all homes on the neighbor list even if they have someone building inside, that way everyone has the same chance to rob their booster family, thus discouraging them from doing it.
No clue how you would stop people from robbing with their dummy accounts but that is the bigger issue. You will have a huge chunk of your steam population abusing in this manner, and I guarantee the only players that will be able to stand up to them will be the other exploiters.
While Im aware that blocking ips would hurt lan users, this is a rogue like, so any chance for exploitation should be limited as much as possible. And sure there would be ways to get around this, but they are far more complicated then just getting a 2nd steam account and paying 16$. Everyone has money, not everyone knows how to ip mask.
I would just like to bump this. House plants, sofas, tvs, and possibly other floor tiles to choose from, would all be welcome additions to the game. It wont, and does not need to change the game play. It would however change the feel of the game, and would, especially in the later game, have a great affect on the build and layout of my dungeon.
Really these are all features that I assumed were coming anyways. The games that you mentioned that you are afraid of being like, are all games that I like. Initially that's what drew me to your game. In many ways this is a super striped down, super refined pvp voxel rogue-like. And its great for that, there is no filler to the gameplay, no world for players to get lost in, only pvp combat via player made homes.(although there should maybe be just a little filler) Just don't strip the gameplay down to the bare bones. Please give us more optional miscellaneous tiles, they will be used and appreciated, I assure you.
If your using dual accounts you are killing this game. Its no mystery why the player base is so low, clearly everyone got feed up with this kind of crap. In the 4 days since Ive started playing, its become clear to me that the 2 top houseowners can break into my home whenever they want. Its also clear that someone is not robbing homes with his main account, instead using dummy accounts so he does not risk his own home.
This is supposed to be the last weekend of beta testing, how about you stop acting like a prick and play the game the way it was meant to be played? That is all-
I think a possible solution would be some kind of auto-tax system. Just as players get an hourly wage they should also get taxed an hourly wage. The hourly tax should only be taken out of their hourly salary, and not their actual bank. This tax should get more severe as a player gets richer, until they make basically nothing per hour.
This way people wont get super rich off salary, only robbery. And the salary will mostly aid starting and middleclass players, rather then just padding the pockets of the rich. As I said before, the game in its current state is way to hard to get into, so much so its practically broken. Some kind of padding to make it easier for people to get started would most likely help get the ball rolling.
ok so i missed one, and forgot to count myself. Point being I 50 people were playing it would be less of an issue, but with this kind of player base some kind of salary system is needed.
Currently it is a dead economy. There are not enough people living and dying and getting robbed for there to be any money up in the air. People put most of their money into their homes, then die trying to rob other peoples home leaving no money for anyone.(actually im unclear on this, I think i made 500 on one person who died in my home, not sure if that was a bounty or some portion of his money.)
There is just not enough money going around. You have no middle class, people are either poor or rich, with no way to move up in the world. At this point the game is completely hands off for me, Ive nothing to do but sit and wait and see if someone fails to rob my home. been doing that for hours now
Well there are so few people playing the game right now, I think something needs to change here. Not sure if more people were playing when salaries were around but this dead ends way to easy.
You said that you thought it was boring for people to wait around to make a lil money for robbery supplies, but I think its really boring to sit around and wait for someone to rob my house or give me a bounty( still not sure what that is, but as you said i dont think it helps the problem). If there were more people playing it would be a different story, but Ive yet to see more then 6 people on in the 2 days that Ive started playing. The six people playing are not going to risk their lives for the 300 or so ive got in my bank.
So I dont have enough money to try to rob folks, and the money that i do have is there to bait people into my home, and its just not enough. I know this is not an easy problem to work out, but im pretty sure the player base is suffering from it.
The only money Ive been able to make was over 5 lives ago, when i murdered a clearly new players wife and got 500 from her. If the only way that new players can make money is by preying on new players (and ive seen that suggested a few times now) thats not a viable game plan, that can only cause your player base to shrink.
Please make this game fun! I want to love it, but there is just nothing left for me to do, other then make a really gimpy house on a 1000 budget and then hope thats enough to lure in a newbie.
also at 400 for wire cutters, Im pretty strapped to figure out how to make a decent house and still have any money left for supplies.
So I thought my wife earned money? Ive yet to see her earn me a dime. Also I dont seem to make any money outside of robbery and bounties. Im currently broke. I cant rob houses, and no one will risk robbing my house because I have no money at all. I thought that over time I could earn a little cash just by playing.
If my wife does not earn me money then she is pretty much useless, and that makes me sad. The trailer that led me to buy the game, also led me to believe that my wife was useful, and that she would be missed if killed. currently I cant see what shes good for, other then pushing panic buttons and holding a shotgun. thats just not good enough.
